Adopter Standards

The following are the standards that we at Furever Friends Rescue & Transport are looking for in our potential adopters.

  1. To be eligible to adopt one of our dogs, you must be at least 18 years of age.
  2. All adults in the home must be present during the home visit and in agreement about adopting a dog.
  3. Your currently owned pets must be given regular and routine vet care, proper nourishment and water, and be kept in a clean, healthy, and stimulating environment. You agree to do all of this for any dog you adopt through FFRAT as well.
  4. Understand that we will spay or neuter any dog before allowing it to be adopted.
  5. All dogs in your care must have proper identification. Dogs should not be allowed to roam at large.
  6. Currently owned pets must be up to date on all vaccines. We require that resident dogs and cats be spayed or neutered. All dogs adopted through FFRAT are provided with a wellness exam, a one-year rabies vaccine, a DHLPP (distemper) vaccine, a Bordetella vaccine, spaying or neutering, and a heartworm screening. Our dogs are also started on heartworm prevention medicine, wormed, flea prevention and microchipped.
  7. Our dogs cannot be adopted as gifts or as the sole responsibility of a child (person less than 18 years of age).
  8. You must agree that no dog adopted through FFRAT can be given away or sold; they must be returned to FFRAT.
  9. You agree to pay the adoption fee and sign the adoption contract required by FFRAT at the time an adoption is finalized.

If you have any questions or concerns, please send them to us at adoptions@ffrat.org.
